Maryland traveled up north to Towson to face and came through with a 5-0 win against the Tigers.

The Terps spent the weekend at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, competing in the Big 10/ACC Cup where they split their matches at the cup, beating No. 13 Boston College, 3-1 but losing to Duke 0-1.

As the visiting team, Maryland found themselves quickly feeling at home with early and frequent visits to their opponent's goal.

The first goal came just over a minute in the first quarter when Hannah Bond tapped in a deflected shot and found the net. Bond’s first goal of the season was made possible due to a position change -- the junior started the game playing at midfield instead of her designated defender position.

Defender Bodil Keus found midfielder Madison Maguire for the game’s second score with just under 3 minutes left to play. This was the senior midfielder’s third goal in four games.

Another goal came three minutes later from sophomore midfielder Linda Cobano’s corner shot. The goal was assisted by Bond and sophomore Bibi Donraadt.

The Terps completely eliminated all scoring opportunities for their opponent, not even allowing Towson to take a single shot the entire game. While in the first quarter alone, the Terps took 13 shots and a total of 27 for the game.

While the shots didn’t find their mark in the second and third quarters, the Terps remained stout defensively flushing out all Towson’s offensive progression.

In the fourth quarter, as Maryland cleared their bench, goals came from midfielder Emma Deberdine and forward Jen Bleakney.
With six minutes left in the game, the graduate transfer Bleakney scored when she slapped the ball into the net from a corner play that she initiated. Keus found Bleakney near the net for her second assist.

Maryland will host the 23rd annual Terrapin Invitational this weekend, where they will face No. 6 Virginia on Friday and James Madison on Sunday. American University and Towson University will also be participating.
